Lovely Lentils

When we first started dating, Mr. Logical got himself a pressure cooker because he "wanted to eat more lentils."  Well, for the first six months he had that pressure cooker, no lentils were featured in our meals, so for Christmas I got him a bag of lentils.  The next Christmas, he got 12 pounds of lentils, and since then, lentils have been in regular rotation in our meals. They are a great source of protein, and easy to cook up.  We have them in tacos, salad, in soup, and with rice.

This weekend I made up a big southwestern lentil salad for our lunches.  I reduced the oil by half, and left out the cilantro.

Table for 1

Today, I ate lunch.  In a restaurant.  By myself.  I know, I know, this doesn't seem like that big of a deal, but for me, this is huge.  A few years ago, I never would have been able to do a lot of the things I did today.  Like, sit on a bench alone, or eat in a restaurant alone, or go to the pool alone.  I was too scared.  But today, I did it.  And it was great.

I'm not sure what changed in me to make me not scared to do these things alone.  Maybe it was turning 30?  I'm glad I can do them though!

Eastern Shore

Mr. Logical's parents live on Maryland's Eastern Shore, a little over an hour from our house.  We decided to go over for a visit today, and traffic was smooth sailing until we were almost there.  We were rerouted all over the place due to a tanker truck that ended up in a ditch.

We made it, and headed to the Cambridge airport for lunch.  I have a deep love for airport cafes.  Something about the combination of food and airplanes I guess.  Anyways, we  had a great lunch and visit.  And driving home, we ran into a mini-snowstorm which was kind of fun (for me anyways).
